Canoeing Courses 2025 

All courses and the Regatta are held at Southwater Country Park Lake, Cripplegate Lane, Southwater, RH13 9HN

 

Beginners – Paddle Start Award

Courses on a Monday or Thursday – 6.15 pm – 8.30 pm
This is a 6 week course. Monday Dates 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th June and 7th July and Thursday dates Dates  5th, 12th, 19th, 26th June and 3rd, 10th July. The cost will be £60. This includes the cost of BCU Certificates.

Intermediate – Paddle Discover Award

Need to have completed Start Award (Thursday) 6.15 pm – 8.30 pm
This is a 8 week course. Dates  8th, 15th, 22nd May, 5th,12th,19th, 26th June and 3rd July. The cost will be £87. This includes the cost of BCU Certificates.

Advanced – Paddle Explore Award

Need to have completed Start and Discover Awards (Wednesday6.15 pm – 8.30 pm

This is an 8 week course. Dates  7th, 14th, 21st May 4th, 11th, 18th, 26th June and 2nd July. The cost will be £85, it’s a 2 year course and includes BCU certificate.

Sussex Counties Football Challenge

We have put together this challenge to help units learn about football and develop new skills.

Hopefully this will help raise awareness of women’s football and encourage more girls and young women to get involved.

Complete 2 activities from each of the 5 sections to qualify for a badge. Some of the activities link or could be adapted to fit in with elements of the Girlguiding programme.

Joint Activity Badge

A Joint Initiative between Girlguiding Sussex Central, Girlguiding Sussex West and West Sussex Scouts

The purpose of the Joint Activity Badge is to encourage and reward joint activities between members of the Scout and Guide Associations across West Sussex. 

Examples of acceptable activities are:

Joint weekly meeting, joint camp, joint outing, joint entertainment (gang show or similar), joint hike or ramble, joint adventurous activity and joint social event; (Bowling for instance).
